Fennel is a marmite vegetable, you either love it or hate it. To be clear I love both fennel and marmite, the same however, cannot be said of my family! For that reason I don’t buy fennel on a weekly basis and I do like to try different ways to get everyone eating it. I came up with the second of these recipes while discussing a glut of fennel in the fridge, between us Michelle and I had 5 bulbs! This led to a morning of cooking and experimenting and ultimately a nice gratin for each of our dinners that night. I’ve given two very different recipes today for fennel: Fennelslaw is a lovely side salad on a summers day; and Fennel Gratin as an side dish during the colder winter months.
