I love a scone, it’s what I go for if I’m out for a cuppa and I’m happy with most flavour combinations. I’m very fussy about scones and hate biting into one laden with baking powder, it might give lift but too much can leave a residue in your mouth which is why I never use it in scones. I have a savoury tooth and if there’s a cheese scone on the menu that’s what I’ll choose. You can add chives, sun-dried tomatoes, some crispy bacon, if you like! I’m a purist, I just love plain cheese.
